Sample Student Annotation

The following is a sample annotation derived from one created by a student in a Computer Science course.

Title: Acquiring COTS Software Selection Requirements
Description: The following artifact describes the significance of incorporating user requirements as one of the main criteria in the selection process of COTS (Commercial Off-The-Shelf) software. The artifact also includes a model for matching COTS product features with user requirements. This document was created to help save development time and money by finding a COTS package that meets the customer's needs.
Reflection: By generating this artifact, I could envision and appreciate the enormous effort that goes into the selection process of COTS products. I also found out that it is not an easy task to have compliance with all the user requirements. Hence there are insufficient methods or software tools that support the requirements phase in the selection process. I hope this artifact encourages software professionals to take the requirements of the user seriously while finding a COTS product.
